Can anyone explain to me why this shouldn’t be the case:
Legally, everyone gets a civil union with all the rights we currently give to marriages, abolish the word marriage from our legal proceedings, no matter if you are in a heterosexual, homosexual, or whatever relationship (As long as it’s two living people, this is still America). If you want to get a marriage, then take it up with your respective church. Marriage began as an institution of the church, and we adopted it into law out of convenience. We should keep marriage exclusively in the church and stop arguing about who gets to be married “legally”.
I am truly curious as to why this wouldn’t work.
